What's your favourite plant and why?

I love embracing new plants in my garden. If I see something that I’m not familiar with, I have to find a spot for it and give it a go! I really am drawn to trees and shrubs. I enjoy watching them change throughout the seasons.

What inspired you to start gardening?

As a child, I watched my dad growing fruit and veg in the garden, which he seemed to find such pleasure; I guess that was where my interest began. I left school at 16 and was lucky to be granted a space to train at RHS Wisley. Gardening was the only job for me!

Describe your dream garden. How does it look?

My dream garden has always been the garden I am living with right now! My garden always ends up including everything from trees and large shrubs to tiny alpine plants and everything in between.
 
What is your number one gardening tip everyone should know?

Patience, patience and more patience!  Plants are living things, and they take their time to settle in and develop. My top tip is to wait and see what happens, allow the plants to 'find their feet' and watch what they do.
