How to care for your trees:

On arrival:

• These Eucalyptus are supplied as two established plants in 2L pots. Remove all packaging on arrival

Planting in the ground or containers:

• Best grown in full sun with shelter from strong winds when young
• Plant at any time of the year if the soil is not waterlogged or frozen. If in doubt, err towards spring but remember to keep pots well-watered so that the soil does not dry out
• Dig a planting hole three times the width of the roots and mix some well-rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill once in place
• Before planting, soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow them to drain. Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots
• Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker
• Place your shrub in the hole at the same level at the pot, then refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling)
• Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball

Watering:

• Water well when newly planted to help the plant settle in
• After this, only occasional watering will be needed when conditions are hot and dry
• The compost of those grown in containers should be kept moist through the growing season, ensuring the ground does not become waterlogged
• Reduce watering to a minimum in winter

Pruning and trimming:

• In the second or third spring, cut back to 60cm - 90cm from the ground for pollards or 5-7.5cm for coppiced plants
• Pinch sideshoots to encourage further branching
• In subsequent years, cut back annually or every few years to the previous stubs

Feeding:

• Feeding is not necessary if grown in the ground, aside from a general-purpose fertiliser in spring
• Those in containers should be given a general-purpose liquid fertiliser through the growing season

Winter care instructions:

• This fully hardy Eucalyptus does not need winter protection
• However, if grown in a container, move to a sheltered frost-free location for winter
