During our live shows we may ask You if You want to participate by sending WhatsApp messages. In order to proceed You are required to point Your smartphone camera at the QR code and follow the instructions in the application. After having completed all steps, You will be able to send a message.
Please note that not all messages sent from our viewers will be broadcast during live shows. Before broadcasting the message, our moderators will perform a spellcheck, a message length check and will review the message to ensure it complies with our legal requirements and policies. If the message is not in line with the aforementioned requirements, it may not be broadcast, or, in the case of message length and character count, may be shortened or truncated to fit into the television graphic in such a way as to not alter the meaning, emphasis or intention.
If QVC decides to broadcast Your message, we will not include Your phone number. We may include Your first name and/or last name as you have set up on your WhatsApp account, and also the content of your message. Please do not include any personal information about yourself or others in the body of your message. If you do include personal information, please be aware that it may be broadcast on screen. If you include a photo with your message, we may choose to show this on screen alongside your message.
Please note that after having accepted the relevant Terms and Conditions and confirmed that you have read this Privacy Statement, You can save the QVC phone number in Your contact details and send messages during other live shows. Every 3 months, You will be required to accept the Terms and Conditions and confirm that you have read the Privacy Statement.

The purpose of the processing is to allow Your participation in QVC live shows, including through our website and mobile applications. The legal basis for the processing is our legitimate interest. The provision of the aforementioned personal data is voluntary, nevertheless, failure to do so will result in the impossibility for us to allow Your participation in the initiative. Please note that QVC may also collect other personal data about You if You purchase products or interact with QVC in other contexts. Within QVC, only those expressly authorised by QVC will have access to Your personal data in accordance with the "need to know" principle, provided, however, if You decide to participate in QVC live shows, other QVC team members may see the information You provided if it is made publicly available. In addition, if You decide to participate, Your personal data will be processed also by WhatsApp pursuant to its own Terms & Conditions and Privacy Statement available here.
The worldwide nature of QVC channels means that third parties with access to your personal data could be established in countries outside the UK and not all of these countries are recognised as providing an adequate level of protection for personal information. Any transfer of data to an Affiliate or third-party service provider located in a non-adequate country is covered by an appropriate transfer mechanism under UK privacy law. You may contact the DPO or legal counsel using the details provided if you would like more information about transfer mechanisms in place. If You decide to participate in QVC live shows, please consider that Your personal data will be processed also by WhatsApp which may decide to transfer it outside the EEA pursuant to its own Terms and Conditions.
Please note that certain categories of personal data (e.g., sensitive data) cannot be transferred outside the UK and You should not provide such information in Your messages. Personal data that provides information about race or ethnicity, political views, beliefs or philosophical beliefs, health, sexual orientation, union membership, genetic and biometric data is subject to special protection and regulated by law such as "special categories of personal data".
QVC takes security measures to protect Your personal data in the event of unauthorized loss, misuse, access and disclosure, alteration or destruction, taking into account the nature of the data and the risks posed by the processing of it. Text messages as well as images, contents and all Your personal data communicated to us via WhatsApp application, will be stored by WhatsApp for a certain period of time determined by it. You can review Terms and Conditions and Privacy Statement of WhatsApp, available here, to determine how long Your personal data are stored by WhatsApp. In addition, QVC may store Your personal data to comply with its legal, business and contractual requirements. In this case, Your personal data will be stored exclusively for the time necessary to meet these requirements, taking into account the statute of limitations for any action in court. All personal data that you provide to Us and that QVC decides not to broadcast in live shows will be deleted in accordance with QVC's retention practices. How to make a Data Protection Complaint
If you believe we have not handled your personal data in accordance with data protection law, you have the right to complain directly to us. Please clearly mark your correspondence “Data Protection Complaint”. Please include enough information for us to understand your concern and identify you, such as your name, account number or order details, and any relevant supporting information. We will acknowledge receipt of your complaint within 30 days of receiving it, investigate it without undue delay, keep you informed of progress where appropriate, and tell you about the outcome without undue delay. If we need additional information, including information to verify your identity or authority to act for someone else, we will ask only for what is reasonably necessary. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.
