Seed Starter Supplies
- Fill a seed tray with peat-free compost, gently firming it to create a level surface. If you don't have a seed tray, a small plant pot will also work.
- Use a watering can with a fine rose to dampen the soil before planting.
- Sprinkle your seeds thinly and evenly over the compost, following the packet instructions, taking care not to sow them too thickly.
- Lightly cover with a thin layer of compost, removing any lumps. Insert a label with the plant name as a reminder.
- Put a clear seed tray lid over the top and place on a bright windowsill. Remove the lid when the seedlings sprout.
- Your seedlings will be ready to plant in individual pots once their first pair of true leaves open. Use a blunt stick to lift each seedling out of the tray.
