  • Soil type: non-alkaline, fertile and moist

  • 2 x Hydrangea Paniculata Vanille Fraise (8cm pots) - with non-scented pink and white flowers
Cultural instructions:
  • Hydrangea paniculata prefers a sunny or semi-shaded position, with shelter from cold, drying winds
  • Grow hydrangea plants in any non-alkaline, fertile, moist soil
  • Improve the soil prior to planting by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply
  • Water regularly until plants are fully established
  • Leave the faded hydrangea flower heads in place until the new buds swell in spring to protect the delicate buds from frost damage
  • Prune after flowering, reducing the stems to restrict their growth to the available space and to improve the shape of the plant
  • If necessary, Hydrangea paniculata will tolerate hard pruning of the oldest stems to a few buds from ground level
  • This will also encourage larger flower heads to be produced
  • After pruning hydrangeas, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant
