Offer details
A set of three Hydrangea Blue Renate Steinger plants in pots from Mont Rose of Guernsey; they will bloom in a gorgeous blue hue in acid-pH soils or if the included colourant is used. Bring an extra special touch to your garden with these Mont Rose hydrangeas.
  • Flowering period: June - October
  • Plant aspect: full-sun or part-shade, sheltered from wind
  • Soil type: rich fertile, moist soil - acid soil for blue flowers
  • Mature plants (h x w): 1.5m x 1.5m (59" - 59")

  • 3 x Renate Steigner Hydrangeas in 9cm (3.5") pot - with non-scented blue/pink flowers
  • 1 x Hydrangea colourant (100g) - to achieve blue flower

Cultural instructions:
  • Improve the soil prior to planting by adding wplenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply
  • Alternatively plant hydrangea in patio containers in soil based compost
  • Hydrangeas need plenty of water
  • If necessary, neglected hydrangea plants will tolerate hard pruning to form a low framework of stems in spring, however this will mean sacrificing the majority of the flowers for that year
  • The colours vary depending on the soil pH - in acid soils where the pH is 5.5 or less the flowers take on a lovely shade of blue
  • In soils with a higher pH the blooms will consequently be pink
  • On soils that have a fairly neutral pH it is possible to bring this change about by applying a colourant agent - a sachet is included with your plants
  • It is possible to achieve the same effect by growing hydrangeas in pots of ericaceous compost

Caution: contact with hydrangea foliage may irritate the skin and eyes and all parts are harmful if eaten
