        'You're probably not going to be interested in this,' said Jo, my agent's second-in-command, 'but you've been asked to go for an audition for a new shopping channel tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.'

        'Isn't it rather short notice?' I asked. It was 5.30 p.m. and Jo would normally have left for the day.

        'Well, apparently someone has dropped out and you were on the reserve list after we sent them your showreel last week.'

        'I'm not sure. What will I have to do?'

        'You need to choose an object and sell it to them for approximately ten minutes. I know it isn't exactly what you're looking for, but it would be good experience and might get you noticed.'

        'OK then, if you think it would be a good stepping stone. What's the address?'

        And that was it. Out of the blue, I was a last-minute replacement to fill up the audition list.

Page turner I waited in anticipation to read Julia's book and I can say that I was not disappointed when it arrived. This book is a real page turner that is easy to pick up or put down whenever you have the time. Julia writes about some interesting events that have taken place in her life covering both the highs and the lows. I would recommend this book to any avid QVC viewer. May 20, 2013

Strong, Brave and Inspiring Absolutely loved this book and from the moment I received it I just couldn't put it down! Julia is such an inspiration and has worked so hard to create the life she has although having to overcome obstacles all the way. A true professional in every sense of the word and I wish her continued success. I shed quite a few tears re the additional chapter that had to be written re Julia's illness but having already overcome the ravages of polio then this fiesty lady will overcome her latest setback that's for sure and she hopefully has the knowledge that we are all behind her every step of the way. The world needs more Julias I'm comparatively new to QVC but quickly found that some of the presenters exuded warmth as well as intelligence and professionalism. They were also the kind of women I'd love to have a coffee with. I was sure that I could talk to them for hours. Julia is one of them. I bought the book to discover if my impression was right. This is a book with lots of stories about a caring and kind person, her partner, two children, several cars over time, and an interesting career pre-QVC. I can't have a cup of coffee with her but reading the book is the next best thing. Interesting and uplifting but with an end that makes you hope that all will turn out ok. On TV, the eyes say it all. The book proves that the warmth I sensed is genuine. Bless you, Julia. May 05, 2013

Very Interesting I am in the process of reading this book and really enjoying it. It is fascinating to read all about Julia, my favourite presenter. She is such a lovely lady with, it sounds, a really lovely family. Unlike previous reviews, I don't find jumping from one thing to another a problem at all, I can understand the meaning of the Chapter titles. Hope you write another book Julia. May 02, 2013
