GPS

Lost in the search for the right GPS? Don't worry - our Home Electronics expert, Anthony Heywood can navigate you towards what you need.
What does GPS do?
GPS stands for Global Position System - it basically lets you get from A to B without fold-out maps, having to stop to ask questions or relying on pot luck! You are guided by a voice, an on-screen map or both. The system can pick out your exact position to within about five to ten metres by constantly sending and receiving signals from a network of satellites.
How can it be used?
It's changing - a few years ago, when GPS devices were expensive and bulky, they used to stay in one car. Now though, they're portable enough to fit on a PDA so they can be used in any car you get into and on foot too. You don't ever have to be without one.
Take it on holiday abroad and use it in the hire car. As long as you've got the right maps loaded you won't have to refer to foreign place signs - it'll work it all out for you and direct you where you want to go. That's a weight off your mind when you've got a car full of family members! You can even use it when you go out hiking, on the bike or finding your way around shopping in a city centre you've never been to before.
When you decide which GPS navigators QVC sell, what are you looking for?
We want you to get the most out of every feature - that's why we don't include more expensive options with loads of bells and whistles you won't need. We also make sure we select devices from companies who use industry-leading software like TeleAtlas, Navteq and CoPilot technology. Cheaper packages offered by other retailers tend to use less reliable programs that can breakdown and leave you stranded, so we don't sell them.
