Best anvil secateurs I've ever had
Every garden needs 3 types of secateurs. Bypass (where the blades pass each other) for soft green stuff, anvil (where a single blade presses on the anvil like a knife on a chopping board) for brown stuff like branches and snips for the delicate little things like de-thorning rose stems.
When my last pair of anvil secateurs wore out, I thought I'd try the Novatec ones and after a year of pretty hard use, they're still as sharp as the day I opened the pack. They take a lot less effort than any I've had in the past which not only avoids a sore hand/arm but cuts the time it takes to get the pruning done by half. They also tackle some pretty thick stuff which saves lugging the loppers round as well.
So I have no hesitation in saying that these are the best anvil secateurs I have owned in some 40 years.
It's just a case of remembering that anvil secateurs are no good for jobs like dead-heading petunias as they tend to squash rather than cut soft green stems. If you need something more than your thumbnail then snips or bypass type secateurs are better for that type of cutting..

These are great!
I am a professional gardener and after seeing these on Richards show I thought I would try a pair. They easily cut all sorts of things from hard dead wood to soft cuttings.
I can recommend them to all of you as I have been using them daily for quite a while and when my blade goes blunt there is another with new parts too, this is exceptional good value!
Don't buy the expensive secateurs these are the ones you want!

Nothing special
I used these a few times now and have to say they are nothing special. As with all new pruners, they do the job. The spare blade will prolong the pruners life as long as i don't lose it!
I've had better, I've had worse.

What Every Gardener Needs
I watched the demonstration for these and I thought they can't be that good can they?
Well they arrived this morning and I tried them on a few thin branches and they did fine. I then gave them to my brother to try as we have laurel trees in the garden and usually he has to get a saw to cut the thicker branches. So when I handed him these Novatec Secateurs he looked at me as if I had gone mad. But to humour me he tried them.
They cut through the thick branches like a hot knife through butter. My brother then tried another branch and another he cannot get over the ease of use hardly any effort was needed. To prove it we had our 87 year old Mom have a go and again it cut the thick branch without a thought. I will have to order another pair as my brother has "Borrowed" mine
So as I said in the title "What Every Gardener Needs ". They are brilliant
