Hayloft Plants Dicksonia Antarctica tree fern potter log. Has the appearance of a gnarled log when dormant but fronds soon spring from the crown, growing incredibly quickly. Enjoy a rustic and natural display in your outside space with this Hayloft Plants Dicksonia Antarctica tree fern potter log.

  • A one foot tree fern is usually in excess of 12 years old!
  • If given enough water the fronds will exceed the height of the trunk from which they emerge
  • Fern tree can stand up to -10C without any protection
  • Plant in shade or partial shade
  • Potter log: 15cm – 30cm (5.8" - 11.7")

Cultural instructions:
  • The conditions which Dicksonia antarctica tree ferns do best in are sheltered spots with filtered sunlight
  • Although the Tasmanian tree fern will tolerate other conditions it will thrive in a still damp corner out of constant draughts. Finding this type of position will also keep the humidity higher around the plant and cut down on the amount of watering required
  • It is best to plant tree ferns in the spring when the soil has warmed up. I would avoid any plantings in winter as the ground maybe too cold and wet
  • During the summer months ensure your tree fern has water every other day, in very hot dry spells twice a day. This watering routine is not essential but the fronds on your fern will grow bigger if water is readily available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Be Patient Purchased this plant when it was last on, at first no sign of life followed instructions now got three fronds growing. Potted up on the day it was delivered using Richard Jacksons compost placed pot on trolley kept in garage overnight wheeled out during the day water plant not compost with rain water no chemicals or plant food, patience is a vertue. Looking forward to seeing the plant when it's green up September 03, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Tree Fern! I bought this a year ago & in the first year it did eventually grow 4 fronds! This year it has already double the fronds & they are very healthy!! I am more than pleased with the quality. I have had tree ferns in the past from varous places & they have never lasted more than a year! I did place it in the garage over winter to make sure but I honestly just ignored it....when I got it out this spring it started growing instantly! I would definitely buy another one! May 25, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Rubbish Tree Fern Bought this back in march, it was not dispatched straight away, which was not a problem. It arrived about 6 weeks after ordering and I followed all the instructions, put it in the correct soil, fed it and watered it from the top as stated, It has been in its pot for eight weeks now and there is no sign of life, very disappointed with this product and very disappointed with QVC . Do they ever read these reviews, or get in touch with people like me who write them , I don't think so. I am still waiting, any comments from you QVC! May 24, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not what it said on the tin This is nothing like what I ordered. Yes it is a fern in a pot but not a log tree fern. There is a note to say that they have been unable to deliver what I ordered and this is to replace it and they also gave me a fern feed as a extra but I would have rather had my order cancelled. Like the other person I will not return due to cost but what a letdown. April 28, 2014
