So I was keen to buy this when I found it was available over here. It had amazing reviews but I am slightly skeptical about this now. The reviews were mostly by make up artist and vloggers.
Upon first glance, the foundation is beautifully packaged as I would expect any high end make up compared to a drug store make up packaging. When you untwist the lid, the lift tab is a good idea cos you’ll certainly need it. I found that if you were not very careful when you use the quantity you needed and ensured you had neatly placed the lift pad back on, it could get really messy. So already this is a disadvantage for me and instantly I grew more fond of pump foundation. I find the latter more hygienic though you could argue the Tarte double duty beauty empowered hybrid gel foundation could still be hygienic as you’re not touching this with your finger but with the spatula included at the end of the brush; I’d hasten to add that you would need to ensure you have wiped clean the spatula after use. Again this was a hindrance when trying to apply the foundation as part of my morning routine.
The smell…..oh the smell. Its neither offensive nor pleasant. I guess one word to describe it is passable. I wasn’t keen on this.
The texture; well its creamy, rich, soft. I can’t fault the texture. Even the application with the brush, this did not disappoint. I feel Tarte have selected the brush very well with the foundation as they usually do.
No I must add that I had picked the wrong shade (because again I hasten to add that I am skeptical about the shades they suggest for skin). I know that Tarte have a diverse fan base and our skin all differs from colour to type. I had picked Deep and this made me look like I have been somewhere tropical whilst my neck, décolleté and arms looks like the tan is running out. It simply didn’t match at all. Now I could have been patient and tried with my other concealers to tailor the colour to suit me but that would defeat the object and I defeatedly should admit when I am wrong and should have perhaps bought the next shade lighter which I believe would have been TAN.
So I have come to the conclusion that I will be returning to product because I don’t feel this suit me. The foundation pot is not practical for me as I explained above. The shade is the wrong colour and because I have tried this, i am not interested to try it in another shade as again, I don’t feel this is for me. This foundation doesn’t suit my skin type. I have combination skin and to me, it appeared greasy after about 30 minutes so its a definite no no.
Whilst I’d like to add that perhaps I should have been patient enough to try this out for longer, I am accustomed to an efficient routine which doesn’t include cleaning make up utensils straight after application.
So I am sorry Tarte, I love most of your eyeshadows but with foundation, I am still on the lookout for the right Tarte foundation for me. I appreciate that this brand is vegan, cruelty free, gluten free paraben free as this is something i support.

I was surprised that i would love this foundation so much. It's full coverage and really comfortable to wear. I do have to agree the packaging is a bit messy - even on the first open i got it everywhere on the pot because of the consistency but it's well worth buying. I have quite dry skin so i don't have to layer as much moisturiser underneath to have that hydrated feeling. I'm not a fan of the spatula - i'd rather a tube than a pot but the brush is great.

I love Tarte products and especially their foundations. I thought they could get no better but how wrong I was. This is the most luxurious foundation I have ever used. It covers beautifully and stays put. I have normal skin and am very pale so I ordered Light Neutral and it is perfect. I like the fact that it is yellow based. I also like the spatula and the brush is brilliant. The consistency of the foundation is creamy and I just love it.

Another beautiful product from Tarte. Lovely texture and the brush is good too. It's a little thicker than their sea foundation. My one main bug bear though with this is the same as the other reviews, the packaging. It's messy being as it in a pot and the spatula idea is awkward. Better packaging and I would have given 5 stars as I love Tarte.

I have given 4 stars for the product which has great coverage for a little amount it feels very moisturising on the skin and the light medium is great for my fair skin however The one star knocked off is for the packaging who ever thought of putting liquid foundation in a pot it makes it very messy to apply even with the spatula therefore can we please have this product in a tube or even a upright bottle that would make it perfect for me

I love this foundation,it is my favourite from Tarte. I think this perfect for my combination skin. It leaves a lovely glow to my skin and does not stick to any dry patches. But the packaging, it's very messy, hence the 4 stars.

Love this beautiful foundation. Glides on and feels hydrating. Gives a beautiful healthy glow to the skin. Don't feel you are wearing make up at all. Unfortunately I ordered the medium which is just a little dark for my skin however I am keeping it and just using less. The medium light has sold out and whenever it comes back in stock I will definitely be placing an order, keeping my existing one for summer days. Tarte is an exceptional range. Love love love.

So disappointed in this product. Firstly the colours are so limited. I chose medium but it's far too orange on me. Why does Tarte not stock light medium beige as they do on QVC.USA . It would be perfect for me and no doubt for plenty of other ladies.
My second gripe is the packaging. Who thought that putting foundation in a glass jar would work?It goes all over the place and when you put the lid back on it leaks out over the sides. I shall be returning this .
