Reviews & Customer Q&A

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 17 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Waste of money I got these last year and I will not buy again. The compost was just a bag of sticks, no compost whatsoever. They advertise that this compost is freshly made - I don't think so. It smelt awful and was covered in green mold, and it was also soaking wet. I'll stick to my normal brand. January 28, 2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by Handy Delivery I bought Richards compost last year and found it okay so purchased some early in season to pot up plants bought from QVC. Bought more to pot up baskets and planters once the young plants were big enough and they are all thriving. It does have a different feel to supermarket compost but I have found it an excellent product and I don't have to carry it home either. Garden looks lovely now we finally have some sunshine Thanks Richard, plants are happy and so am I. July 21, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Surprised!! I brought this compost earlier in the year to give it a try. To date the only differences between this compost and that from a local supermarket. Are that this compost was considerably more expensive and that in addition to my chosen plants (purchased from QVC) I have a grand crop of Stinging Nettles in my basket. I'll leave it to you to guess as to where I shall get my next lot of compost from July 18, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by let down Used compost other years, this year not good at all.Used root booster, and all Richards products so unhappy with this new variety. July 09, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by very strange..... I bought this compost quite early in the season so I could get potting once my bulbs died back. I repotted a couple of house plants and noticed small black flies flying round the pots - when I looked closely the flies were in the compost. Now it is summer I still notice these black flies when it is warm weather and the same in the garden they are all round the pots where I used this compost!! The plants have all grown really well however. I was also a bit distressed when Richard said not to use this compost when planted shrubs or plants that would last more than a year as I used 2 bags repotting a mimosa tree ina huge pot - however that is now huge! Rated 5 out of 5 by An excellent product This compost feels and smells fresh and being more Fibrous is easy to transfer from bag to container without spillage. The nutrients plus wetting agent mean less time caring for plants yet after just a few days they all look perky. I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants an easy to use product and excellent results. June 15, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Smells awful !!! I purchased 4 bags as I liked the idea of it being delivered to my door. I used it to fill hanging baskets, wall troughs, windows boxes and plant pots. After watering for a couple of days my husband & I wondered what the smell was. We checked drains etc.and then discovered it was the soil. The smell is dreadful & even comes into the house when the doors or windows are open. It's costing a fortune in air freshers. The worst thing is that the plants do not look any better than when I used multi purpose compost from a supermarket last year. June 08, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disastrous for young plants This compost does feel very different from the John Innes mix I usually buy but with Richard raving about it I though I'd give it a try (even though I'm not keen on the peat base). I tried it with different plants in large pots and all of the plants look very unhappy. I've just gone and bought some of my usual compost to repot and try and rescue them - all in all a very expensive experiment for me and wont be buying again. Sorry Richard! June 03, 2016
