Cultural instructions:
  • Pot up your clematis plants and grow them on until they are large enough to be planted in their final positions
  • Find a position in sun or semi-shade to plant your clematis, making sure to plant the climber deeply in moist, fertile and well-drained soil
  • Ensure your clematis roots are soaked by placing them in a bucket full of lukewarm water before planting them
  • Prepare a suitable hole and loosen the soil - the top of the root ball should fall just below ground level
  • Fill the hole with soil and press firmly, then water your clematis immediately after planting
  • Remember to cut back the stems to a pair of strong buds 15cm - 20cm (6" - 8") above ground level before growth begins in early spring in order to train late-flowering clematis into shrubs, trees and climbing roses
