This gadget would not cut paper. It cost me over£10 to return it.. So I had to pay approx £15 to see and return this. Not fit for purpose comes to mind

Received this yesterday after being on a waitlist (having it cancelled - 90 days) and then reordering on the waitlist again.
Today was the first dry day to try this out although my green recycling hadn't been collected I thought I really need to get out and work!
So, the pruner is very lightweight when at normal height but like any other tool continuous working makes it feel heavier and heavier and to an extent you may find it difficult to get a sufficient grip to cut anything larger than a 1cm diameter branch without going to the extreme end of the trigger to get the maximum leverage.
That is being completely honest. I have a form of systemic arthritis that affects my spine and is beginning to affect my hands and I noticed that I needed to use a lot of strength to fully close the trigger and I certainly wasn't going over the size diameter of the branch recommended.
Because of this I looked at modifying the trigger to create a longer handle - almost like a gardening shears to get a greater pivot - and it almost worked but for the fact that the handle is plastic and I was concerned that I would end up breaking my new toy! My other concern is that unlike my other pruners, this one has a plastic trigger rather than metal or plastic/rubberised metal and it may not hold up for extended use.
Another feature I found a little strange is that the handle seems to swivel around the pole - it's held in place by a screw and it looks as if there is a hole for another screw but that wasn't present, so I don't if that's how it's supposed to be or if it's a defect. It wasn't too difficult to work with but it was a little annoying.
I like the safety feature of the click in place to stop the pruner activating unless it is engaged in the correct position - you'll need to read the instructions to understand what I mean by this.
Because I was on a wait list for so long I'd already investigated competitive tools and found that many were more expensive and didn't have the same reach.
My tip for using it is to cut the lower branches first so that you don't end up with the upper ones getting caught up in them as you work. Also trim your hedge so that it becomes narrower towards the top so you don't end up with a canopy and more work next year - I discovered this through trial and error...
Overall, I think this is a 4.5 - I'm happy with it, it's doing the job perfectly and I would recommend this for lightweight pruning of tall hedges and bushes.

When you're in a wheelchair, like me, this is a great piece of kit to get at those, what would otherwise be, unreachable places amongst the borders. It is light and easy to use.

Absolutely brilliant just what we have needed for a long time. The added red part which holds on to what you have cut makes it great for not dropping cuttings over into your neighbours. The length is the longest we have tried on this kind of tool.
